o apartment

the apartment, which occupies a surface area of 110 m2, has been created inside one of the many tower buildings that characterise the tel aviv skyline. thanks to the combination and composition of simple, strong and linear elements like walls and light, the space is configured as a sort of experiment on the nature of the perceptions.
the project takes shape from the idea of strengthening the existing walls with vertical perforated metal panels that can be opened. this has created a thick wall that contains the residential functions (kitchen, wardrobes, bookcase, bathroom, deposit) but which is also used as an optic device depending on the types of light used to vary the height and depth of the space.
in the daylight, this wall block, made up of variable thicknesses, is a curtain of light, a 3D veil which renders the different areas of the apartment opaque. alcoves and more recessed spaces mark visions of transitory forms.
after sunset, the space emphasises the ritual passage of returning home in the evening: from darkness to switching on the light. this opens up a second view to those who live in the space. the environment is expanded, becoming a remote architecture with very thick new windows: the vision exceeds the measured boundaries of the apartment.
the apparition of this new place vanishes as soon as the lights are switched off.
